How much does bathroom resealing cost in the UK?
It is quoted from the metres of bead, the corners, the colour, how contaminated the old joint is, and access in a small room. A basin edge is not priced like a three-sided shower. Send photos on the quote form or by WhatsApp rather than expecting one national figure.
How long does sanitary silicone take to cure?
Keep water off the new bead for 24 hours. That is the minimum before a shower, bath, or basin joint is used. The visit itself is one appointment. The bathroom is not ready the same evening.
Should I use decorator’s caulk or sanitary silicone?
Sanitary silicone belongs in showers, baths, basins, and wet-room joints. Decorator’s caulk is for dry gaps around woodwork. It shrinks and moulds in a bathroom even when the colour looks closer.
Is a black bead mould or just dirt?
If a cleaner fades a mark on the tile glaze, it may be on the surface. If the black is inside the silicone and returns in the same line, the bead is contaminated and has to be cut out.
Can I reseal a shower myself?
A clean, dry, simple joint can take a careful DIY bead. Acrylic trays, glass screens, and silicone laid over old silicone are where blades and residue cause the next leak. A stained ceiling means stop and ask for a leak check.
How long should a bathroom reseal last?
A joint taken back to a clean surface and finished in sanitary silicone often stays sound for years if the room dries out. It fails sooner when water sits in a channel, a fan is never used, or a new bead was laid on top of the old one.
Do you tank wet rooms?
No. Wet room sealing on this site is the visible silicone at screens, gullies, and floor junctions. A membrane under the tiles is a different trade. If the beads look intact and the ceiling is wet, do not buy another surface bead.
What if the leak is the waste, not the silicone?
A reseal will not stop it. Book the bathroom leak check. Water only under a tray, or only after a deep bath inside the panel, points at a fitting. We say so before cutting silicone.
