Colour-matched resealing is a sanitary silicone bead chosen to sit with the bath, basin, tray, or tile: white, translucent, or a sanitaryware colour. Book it when the joint needs replacing and the finish has to suit the suite, not when a paint colour needs copying. Send a photo on the quote form, or WhatsApp the same details.

Who asks for a colour match
Homes with a grey tray, a coloured bath, or a tile that makes bright white look like a stripe. Clear silicone is sometimes asked for against glass. The match is to a silicone cartridge, not a custom-mixed paint. If the suite is an unusual colour, the photo decides whether a cartridge is close enough.

How it is done
On the day

Photo the suite
Tray, bath, or tile in daylight. That picks the cartridge.

Cut out
The old colour comes out completely so it does not show through.

Apply the agreed silicone
Sanitary grade, in the colour that was confirmed.

Cure
Keep water off the new bead for 24 hours. That is the minimum cure before a shower, bath, or basin is used again.

A white bead is watertight and still looks wrong. The colour is chosen first.

That happens when the previous bead was not fully cut out.
Yellowed clear silicone
Translucent silicone can amber in a wet room. Replacement is a new bead, not a clean.

The job is quoted. These are the factors, not a menu of fixed prices.

White is the base. A less common sanitaryware colour can change the quote.
Length
Same length rules as a white reseal.
Wrong colour risk
If no photo is sent, the quote stays on white rather than a guess.
After the visit
Prep, cure, and how long it lasts
Do not touch the bead while it cures, or a fingerprint stays in a coloured finish more obviously than in white. Wait 24 hours before water.
Colour does not change how long the joint lasts. Sanitary silicone lasts. A painted caulk in a closer colour does not. When the bead splits, it is replaced in the same agreed colour if that cartridge still exists.
DIY
When a tube is the wrong tool
Shops sell many colours of decorator’s caulk and fewer colours of proper sanitary silicone. The closer paint match in the wrong product is the one that moulds. Send a photo and we will say if a sanitary cartridge is close.

Questions about colour-matched resealing finishes
Can you match a coloured bath?
We can use a sanitaryware silicone if a cartridge is close to the bath in your photo. We do not mix a custom colour in the bathroom.
Is clear silicone better in a shower?
It is less visible against glass. It is still sanitary silicone and still needs a clean joint and 24 hours to cure. It is not a cure for mould by itself.
Will you use decorator’s caulk if the colour is closer?
No. Showers, baths, basins, and wet areas get sanitary silicone. A closer colour in decorator’s caulk fails in the wet.
What if the old bead is a different colour?
It is cut out. The new colour is the one agreed from the suite, not a layer over the old stripe.
