Screen and return
The glass-to-wall and glass-to-floor joints on a walk-in screen.
Wet room sealing renews the visible joints: screen to wall, gully to floor, and silicone wall-to-floor edges. It is not a tanking membrane under the tiles. Book it when those beads have failed and the floor build-up is already sound. Send a photo on the quote form, or WhatsApp the same details.
Who it is for
Homes with a level-access shower whose silicone at the screen or gully has split. Not a project that still needs a former, a membrane, and a floor build-up. If water is coming through the ceiling and the joints look intact, the leak check comes first. Tanking a floor is a wet-room fitter’s job, and we do not sell it as a reseal.
Variants
The glass-to-wall and glass-to-floor joints on a walk-in screen.
The visible seal where a gully grate or flange meets the floor finish, when that joint is silicone.
The perimeter bead where the tiles meet, if that detail was finished in sanitary silicone.
A tray-former that still has an upstand can take a joint. A failed membrane under the tile cannot.
Scope
How it is done
We say whether the failed part is a visible bead or the hidden tanking.
Only the silicone joints that can be reached and replaced.
Sanitary silicone, tooled so water falls to the gully.
Keep water off the new bead for 24 hours. That is the minimum cure before a shower, bath, or basin is used again.
Symptoms
Walk-in glass moves. The floor joint opens and water leaves the wet area.
A tired silicone rim around the gully holds dirty water.
That pattern fits a membrane or pipe, not another surface bead.
Quote
The job is quoted. These are the factors, not a menu of fixed prices.
A screen alone is less than a screen, a gully rim, and a full perimeter.
Sound tile edges can be resealed. Loose tiles are not glued back as part of a bead.
If the first task is finding the leak, that is quoted as a leak check before any silicone is sold.
After the visit
Keep the wet room dry for 24 hours after the joints are finished. Afterwards, the floor still needs to fall to the gully. Silicone does not correct a puddle that sits in the wrong place.
Visible joints need renewal when they split. The tanking underneath is what keeps a wet room dry for the long term. A reseal does not reset a failed membrane.
DIY
A bead along a screen is possible if the glass and floor are clean and dry. Pumping silicone into a gully or over a failed floor hides the next leak. If you are unsure the floor was tanked, do not add a surface bead and treat the room as fixed.
Questions
No. Tanking is the membrane under the tiles or former. This visit reseals visible silicone junctions on a wet room that already has that build-up. A failed membrane needs a fitter, not a new bead.
Yes. The wall and floor joints on a walk-in screen are a core part of this job when the glass is sound.
Send that with the quote. If the silicone looks intact, we treat it as a leak check first. A new bead is not offered as the cure for a hidden failure.
No. A low tray with an upstand is shower resealing or tray resealing. A wet room has a drained floor. The quote depends on which one you have. A photo settles it.
