Front panel edge
The joint between a plastic or wood-effect panel and the bath rim or the floor.
Bath panel sealing renews the silicone where the panel or plinth meets the bath and the floor, and checks the overflow if that void is wet. Book it when water is inside the panel, not running over the rim. The wall rim is a separate bath reseal. Send a photo on the quote form, or WhatsApp the same details.
Who it is for
Homes who lift the panel and find a wet floor. People with a dripping overflow hose. Anyone whose bath rim looks fine but the ceiling below still marks after a deep bath. A panel bead alone will not fix a split overflow or a loose trap. We say which one it is.
Variants
The joint between a plastic or wood-effect panel and the bath rim or the floor.
The strip at the floor, where splash from a wet floor runs back under the bath.
The hose and connection inside the void. A split here is identified. Replacing the bath overflow fitting is not sold as a bead of silicone.
The short return at the tap end or the foot end.
Scope
How it is done
The panel comes off if the clips allow. The wet area shows whether it is splash, overflow, or a pipe.
Failed panel silicone is cut out. A fitting leak is reported rather than buried.
Sanitary silicone goes on the edges that are meant to be sealed.
Do not run a deep bath or spray the plinth for 24 hours.
Symptoms
Splash over a missing plinth bead, or a hose that has split.
Overflow and waste are the first suspects, then the rim.
The bead at the floor has failed and holds dirty water.
Quote
The job is quoted. These are the factors, not a menu of fixed prices.
A clip-on plastic panel is simpler than a screwed panel tight to the floor.
A plinth bead is a smaller quote than a void that needs the overflow explained and the panel resealed.
Rim plus panel can be one visit if both are on the form.
After the visit
Leave the panel clipped as we left it. Do not silicone the panel so thoroughly that it can never be removed. Keep water off the new edges for 24 hours.
Panel joints are splash seals. They last if the overflow and waste are sound. A new plinth bead on a split overflow hose fails the next time the bath is overfilled.
DIY
Sealing the panel shut is the usual DIY, and it hides the next leak. If you cannot see the void, do not assume the rim bead is the only joint.
Questions
We inspect the void and reseal the panel and plinth edges. We do not encase pipes in silicone. A failed overflow or trap is pointed out and is not billed as a successful reseal.
No. The rim is the wall joint. The panel is the front and the floor. Book both if both are failing.
Clip-on panels usually come off. A panel that is screwed and painted in, or tiled, may not. Say how the panel is fixed when you send the quote.
We will not lay silicone over a soft floor and call it repaired. The quote stops at the sealing work, and the floor is left as a finding.

Name the room and the joint. If a ceiling below is stained, say when the water appears.
